Port St. Lucie, one of the Sunshine State's fastest growing communities, was incorporated in 1961, and in a short historic time frame, has become an escalating city of more than 100,000 plus residents, ranking Port St. Lucie as the 15th largest city in Florida. The city encompasses 81 square miles of beautiful land, navigatable waterways, and pristine ocean beaches. The lush greenery, plus the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, have long attracted fishermen and vacationers alike - and these attributes soon proved to be very attractive to prospective residents as well.
Port St. Lucie's future is bright. Projects such as St. Lucie West, akin to a city within a city, has residential, commercial, and industrial areas in a seven-square mile master planned development. Since 1988, Port St. Lucie has been the spring training home to the New York Mets.
